Eco-Municipality of Gotland

Gotland is to become a sustainable society within the course of a generation.
By carrying out long-term and responsible environmental and climate-related changes to its own operations, the municipality of Gotland will lead the way and act as a role model.
Education, information and collaboration play a decisive role in ensuring that everyone plays their part.
Everyone on Gotland must become involved: the business and public sectors, as well as the municipality's individual residents at work, in their leisure activities and at home. Everyone contributes to the development and formation of the Eco-municipality of Gotland.
International cooperation in energy transition and improved environment is also important.
Municipality of Gotland has not only the municipal but also the regional development responsibility and takes part in EU-projects in Energy and Environment.

Municipallity of Gotland has signed the Covenance of Mayors. The next step in our development of a sustainable energy action plan will be developed within the frame of the project 'Pact of Islands' and reported on the Covenant of Mayors web page.

Download our Environment an Energy programmes to the right.
There is also a link to the TRANSPLAN project webpage, where Gotland is one of the partners and where the present and possible future energy situation on participating islands is analysed from a climate gas emission perspective.
